Do I have to pay child support after my child graduates high school?

On Behalf of | Apr 15, 2014 | Family Law

In Florida, an ongoing  child support obligation will terminate upon the child attaining the age of eighteen (18) years of age or if the child is performing in good faith with a reasonable expectation of graduation prior to attaining the age of nineteen (19) years old; or when the child, marries, joins the armed services, or dies, or becomes otherwise self-supporting.  Payment of child support arrearage can extend past the child’s 18th birthday until paid in full. There are states that require child support to continue if the child is enrolled in college. Florida is not one of them.
